In fond memory of our forebears, Josephat and Cecilia Matemezano:
We endear the foundational work of our departed pillars, Josephat Matemezano (September 9 1955 – January 29, 2021) and Cecilia Matemezano (Nee Gawe) (14 May 1966 -February 4, 2021). Josephat Matemezano, was born to Annie Mwaonekesa Mvundura and Shadreck Ziwacha Matemazano. Josephat was the 8th child in a family of 10. He attended Leigh Ranch School in Odzi and later moved to Watsomba School in Mutasa District before relocating to then Salisbury.
In Harare, Josephat met and married his beloved wife, Cecilia Gawe. They shared a beautiful life and were blessed with a daughter and two grandchildren. Josephat’s life was marked by hard work and determination. His career path saw him rise to management and directorship positions in various employment capacities, culminating in the founding of the construction company of choice, Monagan (Private) Limited (“Monagan”), in 1998. His leadership and guidance etched an indelible mark on the Monagan stakeholders, not least it’s clients. His legacy, grounded on his string work ethic, encouragement and support for staff, remains the hallmark of Monagan to this day.
Butressed on his undying love for family and God, his active participation in church activities and unbridled support his extended family, Josephat’s legacy lives forever.
Despite his tragic departure on January 29, 2021, and th e untimely passing of his beloved wife, on February 4, 2021, the influence of this couple on our work is invaluable. The couple is a true gift
to the family, and the construction industry at large and will forever remain in the hearts of many.
Their legacy and dream remains alive through Monagan .
